I think they're a lil bit on the expensive side.. not a "feck that.. i'll go elsewhere" kind of expensive..

I personally think you've nailed the design!! Taking out the need for the wishbone to be hacked up is brilliant!

If i had a 4x4 (an you did Land rover bits! ) then i'd happily use you guys!!

Honestly?

Yes, a little bit - maybe 10%-15% too high. I will qualify that by saying a lot of your stuff is one-off type stuff so is necessarily high priced due to development work.

Look at your mark-up once all of your expenses are taken from it. When Vicki started Vixen Footwear, mark-up was 50%-60%, which was huge! She had little competition for the market of large size kinky boots

However, when others caught on, and wholesale prices went up, the mark-up was down to 15% or so. I believe this is still realistic for a business.

You either have to shoot for 'niche market, low turnover = high prices' or 'high volume = low prices'

At the end of the day, people will pay what they think stuff is worth, it's trial and error for you really.

If I'm honest, I think your prices tend to be a bit high too. But, you do do a lot of bespoke and specialised stuff, so that will always attract a premium.

ok thanks guys i appreciate feed back like this.but like youve all said its the development thats the killer and trying to get a company to laser cut one shim these days is a big no,no,we have put a few thousand pounds into the development of this kit and need to scrape some back pretty quick to carry on further development for other off the shelf parts you guys require,theres some really good stuff coming along soon,but for now things are limited to a few kits to see how they sell and if they are a big seller then obviously the price goes down.

hi i would ditch the diff spacers, to easy for peeps to just slip a big nut in there to lower it and alloy costs a lot, them ball joint spacers are the mutts stay with them,laser cut from steel you have nothing to do just post

if you're after a niche market - theres limited products available for 3rd gens.

Theres several owners on here, and if you think about it, we'll all be driving them eventually, when all the 2nd gens rust through

Nah it doesn't. That much in an engineering grade costs a couple of quid if you buy by the metre. Looks nicer than a couple of nuts though.

Agreed there. Its a bit of a limited market though unless Mark starts cutting them for other trucks too.

The problem Mark is that unless you have some experiance with fabrication then you are unlikely to appreciate the time and effort.

I could have knocked up a fairly decent front bumper for my latest project for around £50 however, I have choosen to buy a £300 bumper as it has been cut using flowjet and the finish fit will be way above what my garage bodge would have been. {fingers crossed as it's not here yet}

99% of members wont know how to make or know where to get the items you are producing. So leave the price at a level that makes it worthwhile. After all it's a business not a favour factory, but if you can drop the price a little and shift twice as many, well then it's a no brainer.

All the best mate, although I am normally a home bodger, I still appreciate seeing decent products offered.

PS I agree drop the diff spacers, I would think most want lift to run bigger rubber for diff clearance so would go manual hub instead of dropping diff back down. Or at least offer with and without

You're caught between a rock and a hard place. You need to cover the design work but may need to spread that out over time, instead of trying to recoup it quickly. Personally, I would think splitting the parts so that people can make up there own spec's from individual pieces may also be better than doing kits alone. Offer all options, so to speak. It may also be worthwhile considering the U.S market too Mark, especially now that Downey? has gone under. They may have been classed as somewhat outdated and pricey, but they have left a void over there, for the time being.

Smart to finally see a spacer that doesn't require hacking the wishbones btw Mark. Seeing the pics of that being done always made me cringe, personally.

With regards to the prices, it's going to be trial and error as much as anything. At the end of the day, there's no use doing something for sod all, but going excessive on the pricing will limit the possible audience. Go with whichever pricing will cover costs and bring some profit in more quickly.

Can't be as bad as actually watching it being done, what with Woodzie farting while lying under graham's (old) truck, Mark firing sparks everywhere with the grinder and me trying to play fetch with Mark's dog amongst them all in the confines of a garage with a rough concrete floor and trailing air lines and electric cables.
