For those who had crossed thier fingers, kindley uncross them, form them into a V shape whilst waving them in the air and chanting "You must be fcuking joking".
The interior that I could see through the window looked as he said absolutely mint. The exterior looked as if it had been through a world war. There were too many places for damp to get in .

Almost right Andy. Its because I dont want to have to pack up to come home every night when I go and can bugger off for a few days fishing with no probs about where I,m going to stay.

you could just get a decent tent if its just for fishing! not have the extra cost of a caravan

Yes but this way I can tell SWMBO that it is for holidays and its just coincidence that I can use it for fishing trips
I can also just park up and plug in and not have the bother of erecting a tent. Also a lot more luxury than a tent.

Thinking about getting a caravan myself. Went camping quite a lot during the summer & although it is good fun its also a pain in the arse.
Tent i got from argos although not bad value (£80) for money, takes about an hour to erect!!! then you drag everything out of the back of the surf & set it up in the tent which takes another hour. Thats ok if you intend maybe staying a few days or a week in the same place but i prefer to roam around & not have to worry about the dreaded tent assembling every time i fancy a change of scene.
Plus a caravan can be used all year round & you have a cooker, fridge & comfy bed. They're some cheap ones for sale over here at the moment.

Be VERY careful - according to Mr Plod a large percentage of vans that are nicked over here turn up in Ireland .....

(When the copper told me that I asked why they don't do a few checks at the ports but he wasn't inclined to answer !)

Yup & where do you think all the ones that are nicked over here end up?
I would only ever buy from a reputable caravan dealer who could tell me where the van came from. Most large dealers over here wouldnt touch anything remotely suspect.

Caravans are CRIS registered these days to stop all that fraudulant malarky.

I didn't realise that you were that naive Vince !

A friend of mine tried to change the registered address for his van but CRIS told him it didn't exist - despite him having the original CRIS document .....

Another acquaintance was buying a caravan privately, had a CRIS check done and was given the all clear so he bought it - a while later the van turned out to be stolen and it was taken away. No idea what's happened about the money he paid out ....

I wasn't trying to be offensive in my previous post, just stressing the need to be careful when purchasing caravans

i have a sure fire way to prevent getting stung with a stolen van........

Buy a new one (or rather get her indoors to buy it!!)

Seriously though, our first caravan was bought from a stealership, it was a right shed, pays to be 100% savvy
