  • Removing bodylift

Decided I'm going to whip the spacers out and return the logeygen to standard height, so just wanting to check first. Other than removing the rad drop brackets, (after the drop), and loosening off the steering column knuckle(s), (whilst removing the spacers), is there anything else I've forgotten which I'll need to do?

    Cheers.

Removing should be easy ..... but best leave it there as the truck is settled and it was installed by tony

also it is easyer to look for corrosion and rust around the mounts with a lift .........

are you trying to lower a first gen .....shame on you

would you not remove the rad drop brackets before the drop, maybe the rad might connect with the chassis rails, cant remember, maybe i'll look back at one of my million pics

dont forget the filler pipe sleeve, it had to be adjusted to compensate for the longer distance between the tank and the filler opening

enjoy having a gearstick knob 2 inches higher too

Loosen the fuel tank hose, not a big prob but could stop it kinking/twisting, and make sure all the original mounting bits are there, like the rubber bits with steel inserts etc, loosen the steering joints and do the rad mounts and robert should be your fathers brother

I'm actually lost for a sarcy response due to the level of indignation.

Seriously? Can't believe Tony would have used those bolts to do a lift. Plus it's not lined up correctly. Plus the holes in the body have become elongated, etc, etc. It's going to be easier and safer to put it back to standard than it is to make it, (in my eyes), safe in its current form.

Good points, but I'm more concerned regarding sturdiness/safety than having 2" of bodylift.

You will need to get a set of bolts then , also i would refurb the starter motor contacts before you lower it as the starter motor is a pig to get to once lowered

The bolts were needing replacing either way, hence why I've been deciding what to do with it first. Some of the bolts were way too long and packed up with washers, and I think there are even a few pieces of threaded bar in place of bolts.

Good idea on the starter. It'll give me a good opportunity to test the alternative contacts I've been looking at too. Would anyone happen to have the Toyota part number for the plunger to hand? If not, I'll nip over to toyodiy.
