Hi. I am the new boy of the forum I live in a little Village near Lowestoft in Super Sunny Suffolk and I am in the process of purchasing my first Hilux Surf (for better or worse).
It is a 1991 on a H plate 2.4 Diesel Auto.colour Blue and on the tailgate it says SSR Limited whatever this means. As you can see my user name should really be Knownotnothingatall so that's why I have joined you guys and hopefully by reading your threads I may find out if I have bought a beauty or a damp Squid, please let it be the former.Well Mary my more important half thinks it's Ok so I'm halfway there. Now I cannot wait until 1st Nov when I Tax it and Off we go.

Worst case scenario, you've bought one which may need some repair work. Nothing to worry about either way. If it's broken, it can be fixed.

Thanks for the welcome , What is SSR Limited? and the japanese writing on the RHS of tailgate any ideas? I have already picked up loads of tips on this great forum, mainly that I may be looking at a new cyl Head being a weakness with my recent purchase. but a so far all seems well. Waiting until end of month as need to shift Volvo to make room for Surf, no room on drive for three and yes I'm tight fisted as well when it comes to taxes I do grudge giving HM Revenue more than is necessary. will not be much help on the forum regarding Mechanical Know how I have the knowledge of a Gnat.
