Yes definately a cracked head....no doubt....I can see it with my long range Xray vision....ask the RAC...oops no dont, they will tell you its a gasket
Err ask Bushwacker....no dont, he will tell you its furbared
Or ask Matt....er no dont he will probably upset you
Or wait for loads of folks to diagnose then ignore it....er no dont ....it could end up expensive
1. Have your coolant checked for exhaust gasses.
2. concider replacing your stat and rad cap.
3. check your cooling system is full in all the right places and your resovoir is not over full and the system is free from air.
Have you tried prayer? or a new hair dryerDid I mention I have a BLUE one

Before you pull the head off, try taking out the radiator and seeing if there is any gloop in the system. I had the same symtoms as you a short while ago and it turned out that despite clear water coming out after 30 minutes of flushing, once the radiator was horizontal huge gloops of gunk the size of a small fist appeared from the bottom of the radiator. This gloop was the accumulation of Radweld and AA/RAC 'dogturds' that had been used over the years in the UK and Japan. Avoid the stuff - if the radiator has a leak, get it fixed! The water being passed through was merely taking the path of least resistance and my radiator core was completely shot to bits. The limited flow of coolant had been sufficient for level driving but under strain (going up an incline or towing) the guage showed that the system could no longer cope. Maybe your head is already shot, but getting the radiator out only takes 45 minutes and could save you a fortune. Worth looking into.Last edited by Bathafarn; 15 October 2009, 20:24.
