  • Duplicate post please see (18" Wheel and tyre upgrade)

    Hi guys

I am about to put some 18" wheels on my surf kzn 130. I am being given conflicting advice in terms of the correct tyres. Do I go with 255/55/18 or 255/60/18?

I am told the 255/55/18's are about £100 more expensive. I am tempted to go for the 255/60/18 but do not want to mess with the ride height at all.

    Help please.

    Thanks

    Rob

You'd be fine running the 255/60/18 's mate..

Slightly larger than stock but they'll fit.. an look smart!

Your speedo will probably read more to actual speed.. rather than the 3-5% discrepancy normally shown.

      255/60/18 Pirelli Scorpions on 9" X 18" alloys, zero off-set.
Speedo over-reads by approx. 8mph. (Acording to sat-nav.)

Sweet. Wouldn't want to crack one of them against a rock though...

can you get 33"s or 35"s that would fit on a 17 or 18" wheel.

Probably, but I'm sure they'd be megabucks because people usually only fit big wheels for road use. Ally (unless specially designed for offroad use like the ones you can but for LRs) in the form of posh road wheels is too fragile for hardcore rock bashing.

The edges of my steels are scraped and dinged to hell! I'd hate to have spent a packet on them!

I re shape the rims on mine with a hammer after most play days, running 10psi has that effect
