          thanks for the replys guys.

i am looking at the hyundai forum at the mo'. but i'm looking for a bit more unbiased info. who's engine and box etc
the wheels corrode and pit, and there seems to be a problem with front diffs up to now.
as for a new santa fei, i cant afford one skinter than a skint thing on national skint day, and looking for more bang for my buck. i want a 4x4 cos i enjoy driving them, not to look hard or mean, or bully road users , but to pull mi caravan and go fishing in hard to reach areas(angelsea etc).

looking more and more like i will have to wait til next year though or buy some thging cheap and unreliable.

          mick.

What like a Land Rover - oh, you said cheap....

Have a look for a Pajero SWB, good solid car, not too much money, good for towing.....

cheers mudsurfer, my mate had a shogie/pajero and evertime i went anywhere in it i had to go to the dentist to have my fillings replaced, talk about shake rattle and roll , agricultural aint the word .
It is going to have to be diesel i think, that extra 5'ish mpg makes a big differance. having driven a few motors i still think a surf is the way forward though, so i may wait for a 3.0l i can afford.
