Has anyone had to replace computer shift lock unit?

It somtimes sounds like a flat battery i.e click, and you give the shifter area a whack and the lights come on on the shifter and then it starts! but very unpredictable!

Try starting with the shift lever in neutral. If it starts no problem then the shift linkage on the transmission needs adjusting. 12mm spanner and two minutes of your time.
