    Hi guys/gals,
After scouring the forum for a few days I've decided I want a surf!
I'm after a surf 2.4L or (preferably) a 3 litre diesel auto. I'm not fussed what gen, mods, colour it is. I'd prefer to have offroad/snow tyres if possible. I'm not too sure on the budget as I'm waiting to sell my van, I'm aiming for under £2000. Obviously the cheaper the better!

    Thanks
    Faz

Hello & welcome. Get the 3Ltr engine dude, its way more powerful & has pretty much the same fuel economy as the 2.4

            welcome to the forum

            i would aim at purchasing a 3.0L
Not that theres anything wrong with 2.4s, theres loads of nice ones owned by members here, I even owned one myself. Its just that they are more prone to head issues.
I never had any issues , but why risk it.

There's nothing wrong with a good 2.4 "I had one 6 n half years" trouble is they are getting more scarce these days n even sillier ££££'s, why buy 2 when one will do ya "get a 3.0l .... Job Done !!
                      Good Luck

There's always a Payback.... Don't know where n ya never know when tho !!!!

                        Thanks for the welcome guys!
Going on everybodys response it looks like I'm going for the 3litre.
Economy isnt much of an issue as I'll be brewing my own bio-diesel. I've been reading through the bio-diesel threads and it seems that the surf is more than capable of handling it without any mods required. Obviously the fuel pump will be replaced after the first cycle.
Essentially the reason I am going for a surf is because I will be working in the alps for 5 months and want a rock solid motor.

                        Thanks again!

                          Not pump. Filter.
And only when it needs it.
Just carry a spare with you and you'll know when it needs it.
BTW - Loosen your existing one up just to free it off and back tight again. That way if it needs changing whilst you're on the road, you can change it easily.
They can be quite difficult to remove, I know, I cut my last one off to get a grip and turn it.

Thanks for the tip, I'm assuming the fuel filter is in a easy to get to place?
Can't wait to get rid of the van now, anybody want a duel fuel astravan?
