  • Possible dumb question but

I thought i'd check before fiddleing about, my "handbreak on" light is staying on! it's been staying on for short periods on and off but seems on most of the time now, (and the breaks off btw) i'm assumeing it's a sticky switch and haven't been arsed to check but before i faff about i take it these old tractors aint got a "low pads" warning light, my granada had it but the pads on that had a wire built into em, pads on this aint, mainly asking as i do need new pads (it was an advisory last mot) and still not done em

its probably low brake fluid due to the worn pads. Expect it was coming on when you wnet up/down hills?
What have I told you about thinking Erroll

The warning light can indicate low vacuum as well as the fluid level and handrake.

I'd do ya Pads Ian... as if ya top up ya Brake fluid you'll have an excess amount of Brake fluid in ya Master Cylinder

There's always a Payback .... Don't know where n ya never know when tho !!!!

I think it warns of low vacuum in the reservoir for the ADD system.

There is a vacuum switch in the brake system but this is usually not a problem. Brake vacuum can be checked easily. All you do is pump the brake pedal several times with engine off. Hold the pedal down and start. If vacuum is working you should feel the pedal drop slightly as vacuum assist starts operating.
