  • Anyone Fitted a Push Button Start?

    Hi all,

Nothing came up using the 'search' facility so...

Has anyone fitted a push button start to their Surf?
    Instructions are typically vague.
    Consists of 4 wires.
    1. Wire A to Ground. Even I can get that one right, unlike the following 3...???.
    2. Wire B to terminal 15 which is the power path that passes through the ignition switch.
3.Wire C should be connected to terminal 15 on the back of ignition switch.
4.Wire D should be connected to terminal 50 which is the power path from the ignition switch to the starter motor.

Does this make sense to anyone?

    Regards
    Tony

        Hi,
You turn the ignition on as normal, & instead of turning key to start, you simply press the button until it fires up & then release button.

I converted the cigar lighter in my XR4i to work as a starter button, fooled the MOT man every time.

Stopped the car being pinched one time though, just remove the lighter and put in pocket.

That definitely classifies as a hidden starter switch.

                  Cant be that hard.

I'd be inclined to throw away the instructions, find which wire goes +ve on turning the key to the start position, and wire it via a pushbutton of my choosing.

Too young to die and too old to give a toss

Mine will be hidden in plain sight. Simple but very effective security measure, plus it's pretty cool.
