Help with alarm please

I am just in the process of fitting a hornet maxx 1 to my surf and i am having trouble finding the one wire that has 12 volts in on, crank and run positions, as there seems to be none but there is one that just drops to 9.4 ish when it cranks over thought the load would probably cause this?. So I connected the wire to it and the alarm seemed to be drawing power from it but wouldnt start the engine. anyone know for sure which wire from the ignition i need?

Can'nt you run a dedicated supply, fused from Battery ?
