I'll be pulling the suspension apart over the next couple of weeks when I have some time - the OS is about 2" lower than the NS at the moment - it looks odd sat on the drive...
So - I'll use my standard trolley jack, with some wood under it, although the times I've tried that, it has looked like the jack was going to tip off the end of the wood - trail and error, and axle-stands....

You could have proven, documented facts backing up what you say and some would still argue the toss. By the end of this thread though, BDT will hopefully actually listen to, and heed, some advice he's given, for the first time in his time on here. Tall order I know, but one can but hope.

Use wood longer and wider (or 2 pieces side-by-side) than the jack to allow the jack to creep along it as it goes up. I use scaffolding boards; I put them down lengthways with one board under each side of the jack.
