  • winch idea

    hi guys after your opinions

i have nicked one of these hitch type winches from my dad with the hope of being able to fit without much modification being done.

my idea so far was to mount on the cross member of the rear chasis shown in the pic and pass hook through rollers on rear bumber

is this location strong enough can you see any problems

i know its not going to get me out of anything major but just and idea

    cheers

Other than it crumpling under strain and damaging the rear floor pan?

        I personally wouldn't do it.

If you can add it on there without compromising the structural integrity of the towbar, that should be fine.

Realistically, whatever you mount a winch onto needs to be strong enough to hang the weight of a Surf on.

            Surf conkers anyone?

Is there any truth in the rumor, if you dip your surf in vinegar then bake it, you end up with a really good... Err... Surf conker.
              Non intercooled nothing.

thats the towbar out then looks like im getting a winch plate and hacking the front valance

anyone want to swap a rear cargo cover for a winch and plate lol oh and a brand new k&n style filter

worth a try though that i could save some money should have known it wasnt that easy

for now then looks like i should concentrate on sorting the onboard air nothing flash just a perminantly mounted comperessor in the engine bay or under the back

yeah mate thats exactly what im thinkin dont think theres enough room under the hood so thinkin of under the back

i already have 12v in the back but thinking of adding a 3rd battery

also thinkin or "cheap" snorkel air modded air intak to get colder air and maybe an awning

done any cheap diy mods to your truck mate

Nah, nothing to speak of. I have removed the sidesteps though.
