  • Dog cages?

Hi all, I need some form of cage in the boot to stop my Huskey from eating any more Surf!
I've currently got a standard dog cage in there, but it only fits in with the rear seats folded down and it rattles like hell.
I'd like use of the rear seats again too (after I've replaced the rear seat belts he ate).

Does anyone on here have any form of cage in their Surf's?
    Cheers,
    Sean

Would one of the RSPCA / Police type cages not be better?

I've got 2 Malamutes mate so I know where you're coming from, thankfully they aren't as hyper as huskies. Build one in the back mate out of wood and (strong) wire mesh.
I race my dogs so I get plenty of ideas from seeing other peoples vans and cars, and, roll on next spring when I'll be getting a transit just for the dogs. Visit http://www.siberianhuskyclub.com/itemsforsale for an idea because there is a VW Transporter on there at the moment with a picture in the back or get in touch with members from the site who will gladly offer ideas.

Dumping the missus wouldn't work for me, the dogs mine!
A van would cure the problem, but I can't afford a third vehicle, and I'm not getting rid of the Surf!
The problem is, I live on my own with no-one to puppysit, and having to work 12hr night shifts means the dog must come with. So I want him to have as much room in the car as possible, but I also need the use of the back seats.

I guess it's a custom built cage to fit the Surf specifically that I'm after.

I've already lost two rear seat belts, the boot carpet, a rear headrest, the carpet on the back of the rear seats, and he has even pulled the rubber from around the outside of the rear window where it was open halfway!
          Cheers,
          Sean

try the range or pets at home do cages in various sizes with front and side openings and can even take them to the car to see if they fit right ours was £45 but saves alot of money on replacing chewed items and also means can open back door and doggie cant get out
            Me........... NEVER

Thats what I'm using now, a Savic dog crate, but it's rectangular and requires the rear seats folded down to fit and rattles like a Pajero on a green lane!

Check out hampsterbaskets.co.uk they make to measure.
Even kink back to follow the angle of the seats giving max room.
Our mutts are great at chinese writing on the windows so always had cages till we got the surf. They are too old and decrepid now.... ex agility dogs.... used to jump for a living but the tailgate is way too high...
                Remember arrows are silent.....................
Don't forget to tell everyone its indestructable as seen on top gear.......

An allternative to a cage !

I was at a dog show a while back and I saw a chap with a dog trailer, first one I'd ever seen, a little bit bigger than a camping trailer and had three Flat coat Retrievers in it. A well made thing with no names on it. So not sure of it's origin.

get a push bike with a 'Springer' attached. http://www.culpeppers.co.uk/catalogu...=training-aids Being a Husky they need s*it loads of exercise to tire them out or they get bored and destructive as your surf is finding out.
