I think a body lift is needed if you top mount the intercooler?
looking at it my truck is high, i dont think it can be just a suspension lift for this height.... but can feel body spacers unless they are rubber.... can i do a 2" lift without any body mods....

Hey albannach how much would it cost to buy & fit an intercooler on a 3rd gen?
I think an intercooler adds about 4 or 5 bhp, is it really worth it?
Surely a big bore exhaust system is a better way to get more power.
It's easy to tell if you have a body lift. Looking around the front of the footwells area underneath, you'll have brackets on the outer edge of the chassis through which the body mounting bolt for that area goes through. On top of that mount/bracket, (between it and the bodyshell), if you can only see a thick rubber bush, it's unlifted. If you can see an ally or plastic spacer, it's lifted by the height of that spacer.

Or the rear wheel arch. If you can get your hand between the chassis and the body, it's been lifted.

No idea how much it would cost for a 3rd gen. About £100 should get one fitted on a 2nd gen though.
I don't think a big bore exhaust on its own will do much for power gains. But I do think this is a loaded question, so I eagerly await your response.
I would. Few on here will ever get to the point where they actually need a solid front axle setup. Woodzie is just a bit of an exception.
WHO!!!!! KEEP UP YOU ARE NEARLY 2 YEARS BEHIND
A intercooler needs the bodylift as it increases the area in the engine bay ..... a scoop helps too , for off roading though i would get a snorkle ( which will act like a air ram ) and either go for some coil spacers and scream at the torsion bars and tell them how useless they are .....Or the land cruiser springs MLH's and balljoint spacers
My sas was done because it could be done .......yes it is a head turning truck that the discofairy drivers LOOK UP AT

Whats a 'loaded' question?
Just thinking out loud thats all. Im looking for a little bit more power myself, so its either a power chip, an intercooler or a new exhaust system. The latter seems like the best choice as a big exhaust is gonna make my surf sound cool as well. Childish i know, but ive always wanted that low burble noise.
