Lifes little quirks, tried to change my car insurance over from my Cherokee to my Surf today. Answered all their silly q's, then gave him the reg number,

"So thats a 91 Toyota Land Cruiser then sir"

"No its a Toyota Surf"

"Not on the list sir"

"Alright then its a Toyota HiLux Surf"

"Sorry Sir , its a Land Cruiser or a Prado"

I had a couple of insurance companies like this but most were ok and recognised it as a Surf, those that didn't simply updated their systems manually (had to go through some more questions to do it though), can't understand why they didn't do the same. They did say that because it is an import their systems arn't as spot on as they would be if it was a UK motor so just updated there and then.

Bibs is right and they are cheap and cover everything on and off road .

Every year I try several insurance companies for comparison, including so called specialists, looking for the best deal & I keep coming back to the same company, i.e. Directline.com
For me at least, they have always been the cheapest with the best cover, & have never had a problem. (Touch wood) Fully comp for me & the wife this year: £264.00
(Only speaking as I find of course)

I tried them price was ok, but they insisted european cover was for thirty days only, when i pointed out, that by law its 3rd party for the life of the policy, i was told i was talking rubbish and should leave the law on insurance to the experts, whence he then put phone down on me. Seems they operate to a differant law than anyone else.

i had that so i called the DVLA and asked them what they think i have got and they told me its a 2.4 Surf and if there system isn't right they can up date there info off the DVLA system and that you should not have any problem if this happens again, just call back.

OMG i am a 40 year old, just had an accident with now no claims bonus and have just had to take cover our with Adrian Flux (Great service and price BTW) for ....... Wait for it.....

i am the old fart but swapping and changing cars and then some silly old man in a peugot 207 pulls out on you so causes your Insurance company to tell you that you no longer have any No Claims and until its all soted you will not have any. Non Fault calims are great arent they...

Well l i look forward to the day when i can insure something for under £500.

I laughed when I arranged with my current insurers to change the current insurance I had for my 2.4TD Surf over to my 3.0TD Surf. I had the 2.4 for about 2 years and all of the time with the same company. I spoke to a nice young girl on the phone for about 45 minutes asking me questions (even though I was on their system but I didn't mind). Then finally, she asked me again what the new vehicle was and I once again said Hilux Surf, 3.0 Litre.

"Oh, i'm sorry, we cannot insure that vehicle as it's a high risk import"
