Now that had to hurt, know how he feels though, was working on a Gardner truck engine, had my left hand resting on top of the belts, lent forward, touched a screwdriver, it fell and shorted the starter, lots of swearing, and trip to hospital, luckily i only lost about 3 mm from one finger and 2 from another, shit happens.
A friend of mine, Patsy. Did a similar thing cleaning her bike chain. Put it in gear and with a rag on the chain managed to pull her thumb round the rear sprocket. She had a pair of rubber gloves on and drove to the hospital. They did sew it back but after more operations she lost the end of it. Hasn't put her off though. She just bought a Fireblade, making 4 bikes she has got. No bad for a 61 year old.
