ive heard they made a real shitter recently? forgot its name? it was a jeep thingy that had major steering problems but they passed it and sent it out to our boys in the middle east anyway!?
apparently it lacked the proper armour, speed and had the articulation of a school bus!?
EDIT: this wasnt your fault was it?!

Some versions of that are lightly armoured so they have speed and agility. Never heard of a steering problem, and for what it is, its pretty damn quick! Horses for courses. The survivability tree goes something like...
1) Dont be in harms way
2) If you're in harms way, dont be seen (stealthy)
3) If you're seen,dont be hit (agility / speed)
4) If you're hit, dont be damaged (armour)
5) If you're damaged, be able to return (backup / damage tolerant systems)
Some of the Jackal vehicles (and indeed some others) aren't designed with the 1st priority of surviving roadside bombs (so the gutter press will rant about it), they are designed with no.3 as priority. However, due to the low volume of vehicles available, they get pressed into service for jobs they aren't suited to.
The variant of the vehicle I'm working on at the mo (Husky - the recce / ECM version) is heavily armoured and filled to the brim with all kinds of special electronics. Because it'll be at the head of a patrol or convoy, or out on its own doing sneaky stuff, it's designed to survive rolling over an IED.
You cant have heavy armour AND speed AND agility. Not for the kind of money the UK tax payer is willing to part with anyway.Cutting steps in the roof of the world
