  • Synthetic or Semi ?

    So...the question is...

What is the best engine oil to use, Synthetic 10w-40w or... semi-synthetic 5w-30w ?????

    Any particular brand?

I used to work for Q8 oils & got the same advice from a technician who worked there, but the car lube stuff is'nt that expensive so i don't mind.

I pay about £20 for 20 litres of Chevron 10-40 mineral. Cheap enough to change once a month if you really feel like!

That way, you dont have to rely on the vague promises of 'expensive' synth oil protecting your engine.

Oil breaks down, diesel engines are hard on the stuff.

I use the same Costco stuff as Apache. It was slightly more expensive this time, but still cheaper than anywhere else I can get it.

oooh an oil question! good because i wanted to ask an oil question.
(if i may of course? lol)
do you need to use a thinner grade oil as the car puts more miles on? i.e over 100,000
