    hi
im looking at buying a hilux surf and need some advice please.
my old audi a6 which i used for commuting has blown up leaving me with an old landrover series 3 (which i use mainly to carry my 4 dogs) as my only form of transport. with the credit crunch i can only justify one car so need something that i can use for both and the hilux surf looks well for the money.
dont want anything modified and have read loads about there capability off road but what about for commuting and weekends away

    cheers
    den

Welcome .. if you can put up with 21mpg they are a great wagon.... enjoyable to drive...brutish looks... you get a few admiring glances...versatile... the garage that fixes mine loves it...

Put the rear seats down and its a truck....

I have a 3rd gen 3.0td hilux surf & i can tell you its the best car ive ever owned & I have owned quite a few.
Its has similar offroad ability to a defender but its a nice drive on-road. Quiet, powerful, utterly reliable, goes round corners properly unlike discos/defenders, it has folding seats so you can carry masses of suff or sleep in it if your camping.
I get about 28 to 33mpg depending on driving style.
I owned a lexus is200 once & my surf isnt far off the same comfort level & thats with mud terrain tyres!
        Enjoy.
