  • hello

hi all, looking into purchasing my first surf. its 2.4 td auto.
i have tried other 4x4's in the past, my personal favorite being the ford explorer, but the unreliability outweighs everything else.

i live in warrington, do the usual man stuff....drink, fish, drink, shoot, drink, women, drink, rugby, and then go for a pint.

looking forward to some banter and some good info on surfs, mpg, reliabilty, things to look for etc.
please feedback as much info as possible please guys.

    see ya

    mick.

Hello, welcome to our emporium. Sit down, relax, read lots and enjoy.

I've always said there are insufficient words, in the English language, to adequately describe the smell of a wet dog. Can you help with a proper description?

Boil in the pan hotdog sausages come close. How people can actually put those things in their mouth amazes me.

                cheers guys

a wetdog smell, erm a tough one that. i got the nickname several years ago off our maude, i was a kitchen salesman and visited the home of one of our asian bretheran, who had just returned from pakistan. 2 days later i was ill as fook and was sent to the hospital by the gp . lets just say fluids where contantly leaking out of every availible oriface, and i was sweating like a frog in a blender. i had to lie on plastic sheeting and our maude said i smelled ,like a 'wetdog'.

as for an explorer, i cant see any connection betwix a surf and an explorer. the ford is a big 4.0 v6, is quick and handles well for its size. the surf is a 4 pot parraffin pi55er, and as yet, i have only driven 1, a while back and it was awful. this is probably gonna get me banned/shot

i am awaiting the truck i am intereted in, and in the meantime would like some pointers please. gen 1/2/3 differences, common faults to look for, and mpg please

does the hilux have any major problems? the ford is a bu66er with timing chains and lots of other niggly stuff, which really pi66es me off. theres no way i'm buying driving a shogun, disco, or several other 4x4 in my meagre price range. under £1500

                cheers,
                mick

Hi and welcome to the home of insane surfers

you should be able to get yourself a decent 2nd gen 3.0l for that money.
Ther's hardly any difference in mpg with the 2.4 and 3.0l's.The 3.0l has more grunt to it and better for towing.

Gen1 is like a pick-up with detachable rear roof.
Gen2 has a drop down tailgate
Gen3 well lets just say Hairdressers

well you kinda just open your mouth and insert sausage then close your mouth take a bite and chew.
