I cannot run the engine as its stuck in gear (it will be off and gone)

If I start the engine then I might get half way down the road then If it is still stuck then I will be stranded in the street!! and if it frees up then won't go back into gear it will be stuck in the street!!

only one thing i can suggest,use yr breakdown cover mate,providing u have home start,thats what its there for

I'll let you guess which bit of break down cover I do not have!! then again so long as I can reverse it 2 miles down the road I will be covered!!

i was always under the impression the fluid only had a certain amount of life,same as brake fluid etc,or am i wrong?

It's recommended to change it every 2 years, but that's because it's hygroscopic, not because it burns out. Changing it is not as important in a clutch system because it'll never boil (unles the car is on fire).

Just jumped in the truck to reverse it out of the drive. I had it in reverse with the clutch pressed down and was free wheeling off the drive (steep slope down hill to get off) when it jumped into gear and stalled ....I now cannot get out of gear?? what’s broken.....

When you say it 'jumped into gear', what do you mean? You said it was in reverse already. Reverse is a gear.

When you press the clutch pedal, does it feel normal? If not: Is there fluid in the reservoir? Is the slave cylinder still bolted to the bell housing and connected to the fork? Is the master cylinder still connected to the pedal?

When you say it 'jumped into gear', what do you mean? You said it was in reverse already. Reverse is a gear (your funny). I was freewheeling (with reverse selected) down the drive with the clutch depressed and using the brake to slow me down (very steep short drive) when the drepressed clutch made a clunk and it stalled in reverse still on the drive.

From what I can see , yes

You need to get the truck on to level ground, to unload everything, see if it'll come out of reverse then. If not, box out. If it does come out, something may have broken on the new clutch. But this is one of those things it's impossible to diagnose remotely.

Try it without the engine running then, sheesh!

Thanks, I will nip back home tomorrow when the street is quite and all cars are out (of the way) at work to try and back it off the drive then get it to where I did the clutch change and open it up again. At least this time I have no time pressure.

If it is that then it maybe worth a fiddle on the opposite end of the pressure bearing arm...I will try that if I can reach it.

Hi mate,

Sounds like the release arm has either, broken inside,
or come off it's mounting in the bell housing, or the
slave cylinder push rod has come thru the arm it's self.
