Just jumped in the truck to reverse it out of the drive. I had it in reverse with the clutch pressed down and was free wheeling off the drive (steep slope down hill to get off) when it jumped into gear and stalled ....I now cannot get out of gear?? what’s broken.....

    Any advice appreciated

    Thanks

I would say when it actually jumped into gear and on the slope that its just locked itself in gear.If you can get the truck pulled up the slope a bit it will probably release itself

? what’s stopped the clutch from working...if I press the peddle I cannot disengage reverse . If I try starting it then it "reverse bump starts" down the drive....

Its a 2.4 manual with a hydraulic link...is there anything I can adjust

I changed the clutch (2000km ago) but never changed the fluid...is it worth topping it up..(a little nearer the min level) .will that really make a difference? is there a bleeding nut...thing

          Cheers

the fluid burns out,i know nothing of surf clutches, but ive seen it countless times with other hyd clutches, that are said to be knackered, when they just need a fluid change

Ignition off. Clutch in. Really good shove on the gear lever and get it out of gear. Then depress the clutch and go through each gear one by one.

Cannot get it to budge .... may have to look at finding a winching point and try to pull it back up the drive to take the pressure off the gear box so I can then force it out....ahahahah

How does the fluid burn out?

                    Maybe he meant leaked out??

Any way my truck is still stuck in gear on drive any.....useful hints welcome

I have no way of winching it at present ....

Is all hydraulic fluid different?? I have some for brakes and some for the axle would either of these be any good for the clutch or is it a different type??...not that I think this will help

Pumped the clutch pedal quickly a few times with the engine running, then try and shift the lever.

sounds like the clutch cover to me not disengaging the pressure plate so tha it is stuck in gear

I cannot run the engine as its stuck in gear (it will be off and gone)

If I start the engine then I might get half way down the road then If it is still stuck then I will be stranded in the street!! and if it frees up then won't go back into gear it will be stuck in the street!!

i was always under the impression the fluid only had a certain amount of life, same as brake fluid etc,or am i wrong?

If it is that then it maybe worth a fiddle on the opposite end of the pressure bearing arm...I will try that if I can reach it.

                              Thanks
