Good idea, first thoughts are that if the bags lose air, then your straps will become loose, then your luggage will go west.

actually they wouldnt because its one continuos strap that goes through the car along the underside of your roof. so the strap would still be taught, but you would risk damage to the paint on your roof if anything touches it.
i kinda like this little invention. quite cheap too.

He means two pieces of foam with a webbing strap anchoring them, in similar fashion to how those airbags are anchored.

...they have been out for years.....just don't pull the straps too hard or you will have some nice dints in your roof...
