Go to the surfs for sale bit,the guys on here would'nt sell you a junker as most of them look after their surfs, the rest plough new ditches with them!!!

Hi and welcome, look at the other parts of the forum, its all there, its a matter of personal taste, i think the 2.4 in burgundy is the tops, some of the others will disagree, do not listen to them the search button ? lovely thing, access to all sorts of info.

yeah i think it was the POSTS: 1 that gave it away?

anyway welcome to the asylum mate.
as for what surf to get id strongly recomend the 3.0lt! engine code (kzn 130)
dont worry about millage. mine had done 125,000 miles on the clock when i bought her and she purs like a new born kitten!

oh wait hang on a sec!.......whats your budget?? what year/generation surf are you looking to buy? 1st? 2nd or 3rd? or later?

dont believe the hype,no more on parts than yr vectra, main worry is head gasket,3.0td is least of a worry as for which gen, thats personal choice,if yr worried about parts get 2nd gen 3.0td as stormy on here breaks them for a living and posts,3rd gen is nicer, but more plastic, and few breakers

depends on what you want to use it for. if your planning on doing some off roading or green laning then i would opt for the 2nd gen.
go for the 3rd gen if your not planning on taking it off road. they are more modern inside and some people thing they are "prettier". usually come with good paintjobs too as they are a bit newer.

And for a non-rose-tinted specs version...

Only fair to tell you that it WILL cost more to run than a Vectra. Try 22-23mpg for size, less if you are just running round town, perhaps a couple more on a long steady run. Dont believe people / dealers who tell you you'll get 35mpg, it's b0llocks plain and simple.

Also, buy as new a Surf as you can afford. They are Toyota so are all pretty reliable, but they DO break and need parts and the older ones do this more frequently. Parts prices are comparable in price to any other car of similar age really.
