2nd gen and 3rd gen half shafts

Can anyone tell me if the 2nd gen 3.0l and 3rd gen rear half shafts are the same.I know the hubs are different sizes but are the actual shafts the same.I got a feeling they are different but not sure.TIA

I've just been outside and dismantled both my trucks axles, and they are..........oh bugger, Nev's already confirmed!



I've gone and made my keyboard all oily and smelly for nothing now. Plus I've got to walk to the motor factors to get new diff oil too!

Update on these halfshafts on the rear of the 3rd gen and 2nd gen.I have just gone to fit one on a 3rd gen and they are completely different shafts.
The 3rd gen has a cog like fitment that is on the rear of the backing hub plate and then when the shaft is pushed in the axel this cog fitment then looks like it touches some sort of senor just inside the axel and theres about 1" difference in shaft length also.The actual hubs are the same size but all the braking system is the opposite way to the 2nd gen hubs.
I'm now on the lookout for a o/s rear halfshaft urgent if anyone has one

No worries Nev.I thought there must off been a difference somewhere but at least i now know what the rear half shafts on a 3rd gen look like in case i'm asked again about them

Yep, saw that. I am not sure yet and will be a couple of months till I decide. I will just be supplying new parts, but will keep you in mind if I want to get other parts that are not available here.
