I've been thinking about fitting a turbo timer and wonder if they are actualy worth the money or are they just a placebo to stop you worrying whether you should have let the engine idle when you come back from a long run?

Hi Brummie,
If you live at the end of an off ramp of a motorway,
switch off and leave it, then yes you do, but, after a
few miles of street driving to get home from a run on
the MW, I would think the oil temp should have fallen
to a reasonable level, that you can just switch off.
There may be others that think different to this but
it's only my opinion.
Hope this helps.
Gman.If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

in winter i use mine all the time.
get up, open the door, turn all heaters to full blast, start the engine and turn off again. get out and lock the car. turbo timer runs for 9 mins, and when i finally leave the house its fuly defrosted and toasty warm.
a truely brilliant investment!

i currently have one of my surfs with a turbo timmer on it and i love it! would NEVER buy any turbo car without putting one on!
i dont know what most of them do but the one i have works out how long it needs to keep the engine ticking over for depending on how long you have been for etc etc!
i can just park up and lock my truck like normal and walk off with the engine still running! how cool is that!
the amount of people that look at you funny when you pull up at say a pub and just walk in with the truck still running! haha.
obviously its all locked up with the alarm on and the engine will cut out it anyone breaks into the truck and makes the alarm go off....or if someone tried to put it in gear and drive it!
they arent an expensive item to buy at all and are a cool bit of kit to have aswell prolonging the life of your turbo and engine in the long run.
hope this helps make your mind up!

be insured, have you told your insurers of it's
fitment?, some insurers will not allow them at all.

oh i'm pretty sure it'd void my insurance, but i don't mind.
its only outside my front door, the car doors are locked, the alarm goes balistic if you open it with the key (i've tried this!) and of course the steering lock thingy is still on.
so it'd have to be a ###### good and fast crim to get it off my drive before i make it the 7 paces off my sofa and into the street. if he could do that he deserves to take it away!Just trying to raise my postcount!
