  • Fitting roof rails from other cars

Been searching on eBay for roof rails to fit to my 2nd gen so I can use the whole roof and not wreck the tops of the doors. Reading that a lot of people have fitted rails to their surfs. have been told to search for fitting guides but to no avail, can anyone point me in the direction of the said threads? or have pics of the fitting of theirs?
    Thanks.

        Thanks.

        Don't know why I couldn't find them!

Exactly what I was looking for just need to decide what car and find a deal on the bay.

Anyone know of any that fit nearly full length?

A local scrapyard will probably be your best bet. Plus it's a perfect excuse for a good delve.

The rails that i fitted to mine were from a Vauxhall Omega estate and cost £10 from my local breakers yard. They were the only ones i could find that were a 'flush' fit so i only needed to drill bolt holes and not location lugs as well.
Purely coincidence but the following week someone on our local freecycle web site was giving away a pair of Omega cross bars.

They look pretty good Dodger, what sort of weight would put you on them as they have no middle support?

I got a set off a Kia Sedona, the local scrappy had 2 of them in. Flush fit, middle support, and fits the roof strengthening struts on a 2nd gen almost exactly. They also have cross bars always included (they don't come off) - they needed shortened about 2 inches each but now fit perfectly.
