  • Here's she is again, she must have a problem!!!

Hello again everyone. Don't really want to be one of those users who you only hear from when they have a problem but I know how kind and knowledgable you lot are... and since I lasted posted I've had a really, really bad kick from a horse and been bitten by a snake

You will be glad to know that despite the bad start with it being stolen etc my truck sailed thru its MOT, no advisory, AND I've sorted out how to drive it AND I think it's the best vehicle I've ever had!!!!

BUT.... This week, out of the blue, it has started making a funny noise. It sounds like a fan cutting in but really deep, droning noise, appears to be coming from the very front/fan area, normally stops after a few mins but today it was for most of my journey of 30 mins and it gave me a bit of headache to say the least. No pattern to when it happens, and sometimes it starts when I turn ign on, before the engine is started. It's not getting hot or anything. Any ideas anyone
Thinking about it, I think I could be setting myself up for even more ridicule than I got last time. What kind of a girl posts a request to you lot for help with her fan???????????

          2.4?

It's starting to overheat, the other fan is the eletric auxiliary fan. As Matt said, check the coolant levels and change the cap and thermostat... Do it soon though!

Thanks guys. I have had a look and the hose from the coolant to the rad cap is completely blocked. I guess there should be an inlet here cos that is also blocked? Also the inside of the rad cap is completely dry and rusty coloured - doesn't look like theres been any fluid in there for a while. Some of the other hoses feel 'solid'. I've booked it into the garage for Tues as attacking the blocked pipe with a barbecue skewer is as technical as I get :0
Thanks a lot, you lot are helpful as always

Ive had exactly the same, havent really got to the bottom of it yet either but i i discover the rad was leaking from the top seal and fixed that with metal putty, the water level in the rad was way down, filled that and havent heard the fan since, but it only happens when im towing the caravan. My expansion bottle seemed fine as well so cross fingers it wont happen again. (keep an eye on water in rad, change the cap as well.

Not sure but I think that if the pipe from rad cap to expansion bottle is perished coolant goes into the expansion tank as coolant heats up BUT air is drawn in as coolant cools down.
