Glad no-one was hurt tho and the truck was ok.

the only reason it is a laughable matter now is because no one was hurt.
Im still not happy the person in the other car didnt hang around and see if we were ok.

I know it's being joked about as idiot of the year but Rich did a good job of not hitting the bar steward who stopped suddenly in front of us on a wet road. Who were we to know there was a ditch behind the tall grass?!?

It was Rich himself that said "I bet I make idiot of the month,but there is no-way I'd make idiot of the year.
To be honest we thought it would be a lot worse when we first saw it and had visions of closing the road and a recovery truck, but a short strop and a surf in 4wd directed by jotto and koi proved the better solution.

Dixie ending in the ditch taking avoiding action when a muppet with no brake lights hit the anchors, and then said muppet didn't even have the decency to see if Dixie (and passengers) was ok.

thank you thats good to know but im sure there is still time for me to do something and now that my other half is on here i will have to be careful.

A friend of mine, from another Mountain Rescue Team (one of the South Wales ones), won the team's 'Golden Turd' award or something for their spectatcular effort that year (2008)...

The team has an Iveco LWB van for use as a control vehicle and mobile HQ when out on searches. Very swish, radios, computers, mini kitchen etc etc. Now my friend was tasked after one search with taking it to the local garage and refuelling it. She had never driven it before, and was very careful all of the way there...

...Arrive at pump, can't find filler cap. Eventually spots black screw cap behind a panel towards the rear. Puts nozzle in, commences filling, tank quickly overflows and watery diesel spills onto floor. My friend then looks at the cap in her hand... which says, in big letters, 'WATER ONLY'! Apparently the bill for a new water tank was rather hefty...

So filling the on board water tank with diesel is surely worthy of an Honorable Mention? :-)
