I was a subbie at the loco sheds. The main contractor was modding the anti-lock brakes on HSTs. Trying to waterproof the electrical system.
I was stopping just off the Hoe and used to drink in the Barbican most nights, I think the pub was called the Dolphin? a real ale pub used to take me about 5mins to walk there and 30mins to stagger/crawl back.
Went to the Bank for a Status Quo tribute band they were good. I can actually remember that night. No staggering back to the digs

Dolhin still going and still doing a good pint. suprised you didn't find jaspers if you were drinking on the barbican.....
