Morning surfers. I have a question if I may; does the 3rd gen come with a built in keyless door entry system? ie a remote fob to unlock the doors? If so, where is the sensor and where can I get a replacement fob?
Thanks in advance.
Mine has, including a remote for the tailgate window, but it's a 2001 model, don't know if the older 3rd gens have it.
Yours should have the remote locking module though, so it'll be cheaper and easier just to buy and fit a simple remote alarm/locking kit off Ebay. It's only two wires to connect if you just want the remote door lock/unlock part.
Toyota would probably want at least 100 bucks to supply you with a new remote fob and or key/code.
Is yours on the key or do you have a separate fob?
Both.
The original fob has been de-activated now though due to the insurance approved, Cat.1 alarm thats fitted which has it's own fob.
If your central locking works from your key then all you need is a cheap remote locking kit.
I'm just trying to work out if I can just get a remote fob and then program it to open the doors without having to install a separate module. I know that I can fit solely a remote door opening system but just would have thought the truck already had it installed but the fob had been lost by the previous owner. My 93 cherokee I have in spain has remote door locking as standard by had no fobs, so I bought one on ebad from the usa, programmed it in and hey presto.
If the surf doesn't have a similar factory fitted system then I'll just wait till I get the alarm done, the immobiliser is on a stick and doesn't effect the locking.
Does the above make sense or am I just rambling?!?
