I have watched a shuttle launch, in Oct 2007, from a few miles away near Cocoa Beach, Florida. Earlier in the week we were watching a rocket launch on the local tv in Orlando and then went outside to see the actual one disappear into space.

Damn it! Storms roll in and stop the launch again!

I'd like to know which muppets actually get paid to design these sites. Noticed the exact same thing with the HP site the other day. Just try browsing that site with javascript disabled.

It's a pretty horrible website to navigate.

In other news... next launch attempt is 23:05 BST on Wednesday.

Never fails to amaze me how that thing gets up and goes!! 0 to 14'000 mph in a few minutes... sure beats 0-60mph in 5 secs doesn't it?

What I'd give to have been sitting in one of those seats today!

Half of me says it would be awesome, the other half would be too scared to go...

Something I'd do at the drop of a hat. I imagine it would be scary (in fact I have a book by one of the shuttle astronauts who says he's terrified every time!) but to see the earth from up there must be life changing.

Incidentally, if there was a clear sky, I could pop outside and see the shuttle pass over at 23:40. Now THAT is impressive travelling!
