Nissan Patrol, any good?

I was discussing 4x4’s the other day with a mate who is something of a Land Rover fan and we got onto the subject of Nissan Patrols..... I said that I liked the look of them but knew very little about them. I know they used the newer versions for the “Long Way Down”.

I know people try and compare Surf and Shoguns but I’ve never seen any comparisons between Patrols and Land Cruisers for example.

I nearly bought one before my first Surf, only reason I didn't was the Surf was closer and it fit on my drive.
The Patrols are very wide, 'Gin palace' wide.
Saw a lifted one in Llandovery recently, and I want one again now!
If they're good enough for the UN.............

hey mate, im from oz.... my old man has a patrol... tuff as nuts..
mate of mine put a 454 in a toyota.. but kept breaking the diffs..
moved everthing over to a patrol and hasnt had problem... He was saying that the axels have more splines on them blah blah

But at the end of the day buy a car that suits. Toyota or nissan.. they both great cars. Id buy a 100 series if I had th cash!!

I was in Iceland recently and they love there patrols....

Had a short wheelbase Patrol for a while, not as good as the surf for comfort etc, also rusts on the chassis, had several plates welded, sold it on rather than buy new chassis, horses for courses,D
