  • Has anyone used a Roof Tent

    Hi folks.

I like going camping and was wondering if anyone one here, especially UK members, have ever used a Roof Tent on their Hi-Lux or 4Runner? I would imagine the fact that the car doesn't have a roof rack would make it slightly more complicated, unless you were to have custom roof racks fitted as well?

    Anyone and thoughts or pictures?

The roof isnt the strongest and I think would need some strengthening welded into it to be able to take the roof tent.

I thought about this but a) roof tents seem to be extortionately priced and b) Unless you need to be on the roof to be away from a variety of animals on safari I would probably spend £150 for one of the big pop up tents from decathlon http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/ http://www.quechua.com/EN/our-produc...%22&share=true which will sleep 4 and erects in about two seconds. If you want more space get a pop up gazebo or two from Argos.

Haivng said that if money was no object, a roof tent would be cooooll!

To be honest, i was more interested in coolness rather than big toothed animals! ha ha.

Guess i'll stick to my normal tent.
