If you do the 'meet an astronaut' bit at the visitor centre, and if it's a Mercury Astronaut (incredibly unlikely), a Gemini Astronaut (very very unlikely) or an Apollo Astronaut (still rather unlikely!) do me a favour?

Buy his biography, get it signed, and I will pay you what it costs, plus something for the effort. It was Story Musgrave when I was there, and he's a bit mental / out-there, so I didn't bother.

i bet that would be something worth having! how would i find out what type of astronaught it is? i would want one for myself as well.

i wont lie, im fascinated with space travel and all that, but i have hardly any knowledge of who went up there and all that.

this show is pretty good. im learning a lot.

I have probably 20 or so biographies - excellent reading - and they have an amazing bookshop there!

Have a wee search for Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronauts. You'll probably be able to sort out a list.

They all have balls of steel, but its the early stuff up to and including the Apollo programme that interests me mostly.

That program was brilliant. Didn't realise they still had any U2s still flying.

I'd love to meet Jim Lovell. Anyone read Lost Moon, the book the film Apollo 13 was based on, it's a great book and really inspiring. I never subscribed to all of the conspiracy theories that it never happened, I think they were very insulting to some very brave men.

I remember watching the Apollo 11 landing as a very young boy - man were they exiting times.

At a sales conference at a previous job, we had Gene Krantz as a motivational speaker - excellent speaker and a man who epitomised cool in a crisis.

You met Gene 'Failure is not an option' Krantz?

Your forum name is very appropriate. I bet he was an expensive speaker, being one of the better known players in the space programme. Have you read his autobiography?

No I haven't, it's one of the ones I've promised to get myself. The man that coined Tough and competant to describe what mission control had to be.

He was an excellent speaker, the company I worked for at the time was riding high on the dot com boom so had the money to spend, even had Celine Dion on their stand at a Comms exhibition for the end of show party whihc must have cost a packet.

I even said Hi to Gene Krantz in the lift at the hotel - wow I felt touched by greatness
