  • Amp's???

    Hey.

So still surfless lol but still buying crap

Talking to a guy i know today seen the oppertunity to buy some speakers (bit boy racer i know), i agree its not to most of your tastes but i LOVE music, louder and better quality music is the way forward tbh lol

Anyways, obviously i dont know a great deal about audio but what i do know is ill need a heffin great amp lol

    Here are the speakers:

    Very chavvey i know

So, what sort of amp would i need.

    All i know is the speakers are 2 x 350watt 12" subs totaling 700watt.

Been looking round and i think what i need is a 1000watt or there abouts 3/4 channel amp, does that sound about right?

Anyone enlighten me, come on sound freaks lol

    any help apreciated

    Regards James

P.S. if anyones selling something like this that might fit the description let me know.

Are you looking for an amp purely to drive those Subs?

And what impedemce are they (Not individually, the impedence as they are currently wired)?
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

I'm running 2 x 400 watt, 10" subs on a 2 channel 600watt JBL amp. I don't know tons about ICE but I believe 2 channels for 2 speakers? To be honest I haven't had the amp above 1/8th volume as it sounds bluddy, ridiculously, loud!

I'm old you see, but I stil like my music bassy. Unless you want perforated eardrums, or people to point and laugh at you as you drive by with the windows down, there's no need to blow the speakers apart to get a good sound out of them.

I'll shut up now, as no doubt a load of musical tech heads will be along to blow my theorys out of the water.
'Tis better to sting than to be stung!

Subwoofers are mono, if you are using a 2 channel amp it should be bridged into mono and that signal sent to the Subs. The subs should be wired to match the Amp's impedence.

I was gonna get an amp to drive thos subs but also a new set of speakers to reapace the ones in the front doors AND a set for the rear..

As you can tell i know bagger all when it comes to this, the guy who i bought them off explained that you can bridge them (didnt have the foggyest of what he was trying to explain) so off i went lol.

scorpion, i know who to go to when i want something decent in my surf then!

when i was 18, i bought this JBL amp of this bloke for £30 he said he had had it for about 10 years, and half of that time it was just sitting under his bed. he didnt even know if it worked.

well, i had this powering 2 x Alpine 6 x 9s and IT WAS LOUD!!!
i had it up full blast once when i was driving back one night on the motorway. when i turned it all down and got home my ears were ringing for ages.
i heard the first sign of ear damage is when they ring. so i didnt do that again.
            Oh Nana, what's my name?

If you want to run 2 sets of speakers and the subs, you need a 5 or 6 channel amp. Channels 1&2 for the fronts, 3&4 for the rears and 5 (or 5&6 bridged) for the sub.

Rears are a waste of time, spend more on the fronts.

If you have a decent head unit, you could drive the fronts off that and use the rear outputs to run the subs via an amp?

To recommend an amp, we'll need to know more about the subs. Isn't there a model number anywhere?

lol i hear what you and scorpian are saying but i aint going for the loud factor, i ant a decent set-up which produces the best quality of sound, not nessacraly the loudest. The only reason i bought the speakers is because i heard them working in the car before hand and sounded amazing lol

Because i listen to a wide range of music (not saying what tho ) i need the sound quality to be far superior to the noise it produces.

Did you install this set up yourself? Are the subs in a single box but wired separitely?

This is all the information i have to go off...

This Toxic Subwoofer has 2 350 watt 12" subs with Neon lights. Black Chrome Subwoofer with mirrors Inside.
This bandpass box is a special type of box designed for maximum slam. The woofers are mounted inside a dual-chambered box, with the sound waves emerging from the side. The sound that comes out of the sides is extra loud within a narrow frequency range. Because bandpass boxes are super efficient within that range, they tend to boom. Their aggressive sound is great for dance and hard rock.

This Toxic 700 watt box is truly awesome.

                      Where did that come from?

the 2 things we need to know are the continuous power rating and the impedence of the subs as they are currently wired.

That info doesn't give us either.

That's OK. At least we now know that the subs can be wired to 2Ohms

I'd guess that the 700w figure is peak, so the continuous rating will be around 200-300w.

So, to run the subs alone, you're looking at either a mono amp or one that can be bridged to mono Somewhere around 300w RMS and 2Ohms?

Next question is how much money do you want to spend?
