She got us to York and back plus trips out without any fuss or hicups I just wish cruise controll was fitted.( Feckin miles of roadworks with 50 mph speed limit and those average speed cameras ) there were no signs of overheating, she used no oil and I managed to get 27.8mpg, thats for the run to York where I was a good boy and kept below 2250rpm and the trips out. Coming back was a different story but I did stick to the national speed limit, ish between road works so I,ll see what the difference in mpg is.
Overall I am very pleased with the Surf, I just wish she had cruise control and didn,t have such a thirst.

I tanked up today to check my return journey mpg and found that I returned 27.2mpg, that was running at 70mph where the conditions allowed. Not bad at all for a motor that weighs around 2 tons and has the aerodynamics of a house brick and more importantly she used no oil or water

Crap! Loads of bits but nobody I spoke to had many lumps. I had a tench of about 3lbs other than that it was all bits. I got smashed twice on the feeder, but with carp running to over 20lbs what do you expect.
One guy I spoke to had 8 bream up to 7lbs and 5 tench up to 6lbs but no carp and he had been bivvied up for 3 days. I,m not that keen and I couldn,t sit round waiting for a bite alarm to sound off.

Glad you had a good trip My mpg was boosted by being carried on a car transporter Beechers of Birmingham ! got to the M42 and the temp needle went into the red, the lads at beechers tested the system and found a small pin hole where the water blows out under pressure when hot ! now need to find someone who can braze over the hole for me , gives me time to get a new radiator !

Sorry to hear about your eventfull trip even if you did get fantastic overall mpg.
The journey back must have been realy interesting, not, with the truck on a trailer and you bored sh#tless in the cab.
Have you got it back together yet and is the engine ok?
Where on the M42 were you when you overheated and where in Brum did they take you? the garage name is ringing no bells.
Hope everything is ok, I,ve got my fingers crossed.

the company was Beeches recovery aldridge road Great Barr I made it to Collector road. next to the M 6 i think anyway the lads pressure tested the engine and the water works etc they were really helpful ! I stopped before doing any damage they refilled the radiator and showed me where it needs to be brazed etc. seeing as i won't be doing much mileage yet I think I will go with the tempfix option then get a new rad before starting with the lift and stuff. thanx for asking mate
