  • Car covers - good or bad

To the vast expanse of expertise out there..

Are car covers good or bad,

    Good points:
protect your vehicle from elements, sunshine, tree sap etc

    Bad points:
in windy conditions can rub bodywork like sandpaper, trap moisture, bla bla..

Anybody out there use one and if so what do you think ?

    Thanks

ps its not for the Surf....

If you polish your truck on a regular basis you should'nt need a cover.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Most vehicles are designed to be left outdoors.

I think only Land rovers arn't

Covers are to be used if you've got something to hide.

That must classify as one of the most pointless posts ever on a Surf forum.

A fact it may be, but still pointless. This nugget:

If you polish your truck on a regular basis
applies to approximately how many on here? I'd say less than two hands worth.

At last. If it's any consolation, the advice was amusing.

I use one, although the car isn't outside. It's got a felt type covering on the inside that lays against the car to prevent scratches, and is 'breathable' to prevent condensation.

You're not exactly a typical representation of most though, are you Vince.

I'd never use a cover on a car with decent paintwork if it were stuck outside,
the tarp i had on the buick's roof (no glass in the car at the time) wore the paint away where the wind blew it about and it was tied down tight, as he said a good coat of wax will keep it good (or paint grease all over it)
Too young to die and too old to give a toss

A bloke in the SMC has his Jeep ( lovely V8 beasty ) wrapped in clear vinyl, it never gets washed and always looks the bollox, paint underneath is good as new.

                              Matt..

If the guys asking about something to protect his truck/keep it clean then i'd say he's probably one of the few who does or should polish it more often!!

                              Just my view..
