yep me too. especially the miniature jet powered ones.
well, its not planes i like particularly its the engines that powers them. i like all sorts of engines really, my favorite are the 2 stroke v8 diesel engines, which are turbo and supercharger powered.
i also like the physics and theories on engine tuning, and how gas flow can be altered to enhance the performance of the same engine.
i raised the compression on my 1/10th scale RC supra. it made it very quick compared to the standard speed it had before. i was seeing how fast it would go in a straight line until the piston siezed in the bore and the inertia snapped the con-rod into tiny pieces.
i bought a 1.2hp replacement engine, and fitted a 2-speed gearbox, and havnt really used it since. it just sits in the loft in prestine condition.
i built and tuned a 1.6 ford crossflow engine for a mk1 xr2. i designed and had the inlet manifold machined for the twin 40 weber carbs so that they gave more room for the airflow in between the bulkhead and the trumpets.
i also kept playing with the cam timing to give different power bands. i also noted that depending on the cam timing depended on how much noise you heard from the trumpets or exhaust. it seemed the more noise that came from the trumpets meant that less came from the exhaust, more advanced cam timing meant more trumpet noise and the power band moved to lower RPM.

as you can see, i like engines.
