  • Brakes failed yesterday!

I remember a while back, someone posted a warning about the front to rear brake pipe coroding behind the fuel tank.

    Well, yesterday mine burst!

So, be warned. Trying to stop a Surf when you have next to no brakes isn't easy...

Aye, only had to drive a mile or so once it burst. Still had some front brakes but they faded very quickly.

Mine wasn't so bad, just surface corrosion that was easily rubbed off.

Yep, that's the one. Don't have time to do it myself, so it's going in tomorrow to get fixed.

Glad you didn't use a brick wall to replace the brakes

How will it take you to clean the skidmark off the driver's seat ?
Look out Eastbourne, the Pandas are coming !

Good to hear it happened without causing any other damage or such.

I know how you feel big fella, I was at the Clog when my pipe to rear went. My pipe was rubbing on the inner wing, it was in great condition but the rubbing wore a wee hole in pipe but the brakes went quickly, I had to crimp the pipe and limp home.
Glad you never had any bumps.

It happened at low speed, coming out of the tip. No cars in front of me, so I was very lucky.

                              I remember that.

Truck needs an MOT anyway so Jimmy Ryan can get it all done at the one time. Biggest problem will be the exhaust, the front downpipe is cracked. Hopefully he'll weld it for me?
