  • 2.4 performance???

Is it only me or is there anyone else out there with a 2.4 that does not have the common performance issues often commented on!

I sometimes wonder if I am in the right forum and have the same truck when I read about the 2.4. I know I probably sound like an as5 but my truck really goes! No problems with hills etc even when towing

    Why is this???

Fuel consumption is around 19 -21 stop start and 26mpg on a run.

I'm sure it does feel fast compared to your Massey Ferguson, and like lighning compared to your skateboard!

May 2.4 had it up to 85 and not straining and so far seems better than expected MPG,i think how regular maintance and oil changes figure more than some other issues

I'm sure it would but my one day V8 conversion will mother your 3.0

My 2.4 is no sports car and of course there are better engines but a well sorted one can easily keep up with the traffic.

My mate has a Landy 300tdi 130. He tries his very best to lose me on the 30 mile run into Portree - he can't! I am a little slower of the mark but when going I can stick to him easily To keep up with him initially I do use the auto box like a stick shift!!!

                          well my 2.4 go's 30mph on a 30 mph road
                          40 mph on a 40mph road
                          70 on a motoway
top speed is a matter of great distance in a 2.4
not that i have ever floored mine like
any how my 2.4 dont move

Well mine has good days and bad days, only thing left to try is new injectors, see if that gets rid of the bad days,
oh and route the air intake up the snorkel, its getting its air from inside the engine bay at the mo, nice clean cool fresh air might make a difference (if theres any about)
Too young to die and too old to give a toss

ive had my 2.4 for about 5 months now and cant say its all that bad. i do a 35 mile commute daily and 25 miles of that is motorway. it makes good progress as the police would say and can handle itself well up to 90. i cant say it is maintained regularly though as i only did its first oil change on monday.
it is a bit of a pig though when the autobox shifts down if theres someone in front who would rather go slow than pull in to the left hand lane.

ive got a diy snorkel but its not hooked up. would it be a benefit particualrly in this hot weather to have it hooked up?
