ball joint replacement help

Due to an MOT failure stating:

Nearside Steering pivot point has excessive play [2.2.B.1G]

Im going to replace the upper and lower ball joints.
Is this a tricky job and are specialist tools required?

Also would it be advisable to swap both set L/H and R/H at the same time,or does it not matter.

Proper bolt type ball joint splitter makes it a lot easier - my fork type one wasn't enough on 1 of mine so had to send the missus to the shop.

My ball joints came empty and needed grease , so a grease gun and moly grease too.

Done all 4 of mine a couple of weeks ago and it made the truck drive so much better, even though all 4 passed the mot in Jan.
