That can be taken the wrong way to some degree though. For example, using full synth on an older engine could actually have a detrimental effect.

i know mate iv seen piston heads glaze over from using full synth, its shit unless in a car engine is made to use it,lots of car firms do this, the land rover TD5 engine started with the injector then they build the engine around it,cracking engine too.
that 2.4 oil burner iv got is bullet proof and thats all they had in mind i think

Wasn't disagreeing with you Al. Just quoting the stories I've heard and seen from some people who believe 'oil is oil'. It's not the first time one of my posts has been misinterpreted mind!

I'm a firm believer, like yourself, of cheap and often, with new filters.

Anyhoo, it's been a while since I had the old 'chip shop' fuel in, not since the day you and Joka had to pass me because you couldn't stand the smell of the exhaust fumes any longer!

                  Hi guys,

Used to race a MINI Miglia, and always used second hand
oil, 0/40 full synth, £50.00+ per gallon, it had been used in a
F1 motor cycle/side car combi, (only ever did one race)
The sump/gearbox & engine always looked like new not
brown stained, as usual for a Mini, and I got it for FREE!!!
I now use Merc sprinter oil in my Surf, change it every 5000km
regardless, engine's as clean as a whistle.

                  Gman.
If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

I’ve been riding/driving for 30 years and I have always used Valvoline, bought from the local motor factors. Good quality and cheaper than Halfrauds.
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

Aye, sounds a good deal, but with the vat and delivery it certainly whacks the price up!

Always found Vaseline is the best lubricant.
