another day , another go at the gearbox, it will be coming off again, along with the torque convereter so it can go to be rebuilt,
i hate rolling around under the truck, but maybe ill actually get it running again

What gearbox is it, SD1?

yes mate its a borg warner bwc65 as fitted to rover sd1

well the box is now off and i found why the new box isnt working, . the shaft and splines are different so dont fit the torque convereter, they are a lot smaller,
ive contatced the pe4rson i bought the box off and he tells me its a borg warner 65, but it was on a triumph tr7, and ive checked rimmer brothers website and the tr7 borg warner takes a different torque converter,
so the plan now is to take the original box to driver transmissions and get it recond
so all being well i will have a fitting/working box within a few weeks

Just wondering.
You do realise that the torque converter needs to be fitted to the transmission before mating to the engine don't you?
