  • Strange request

Anybody living near or around the lake district no a guy, going by the name of pigeon, which isn't his real name. He owns a Blue old 164 Volvo, into old cars and bikes and Pigeons. Goes to bike meets and classic car shows around that area.
Long shot i know, but thought i would ask.
    Thanks Philip

No, but he has a web site which includes some defamatory things about myself and 2 other companies, plus some very disgustiong language. One of the places he comments on is a hotel in the Lake District called The Three Shires Inn, which from its web site looks great and the lady owner who i called, sounded really lovely. She was shocked when she saw the language also used about her, just because on some occassions they have Pigeon on the menu. He calls her a F#####g C##t. He will not reply to emails sent to him and has with held his name and address from WHOIS. ISP's will not give out address and Google plus his provider so far not replied to emails.
Si, if you can email me your number again, you can perhaps do me another big favour.
All companies have complaints or detractors about something, thats the name of the game, but this guy is just vindictive, not only about my company, but a couple of others.

Hi Phil, surely if his comments are unfounded then he is making a liablous statement and legal action can be taken against him? Or is this the reason why you need to find him?

Clearly the guy is a nutter if he complains because someone has pigeon on their menu! You could always send some heavies around, when you find him, and tell him if he doesn't remove his comments the next 'pigeon' to get roasted will be him!

How about just shrug it off and let it go?

You cannot rule peoples opinion and what they may, or may not, wish to write about someone. If it is total untruth, then go through the proper channels. If not, there's pretty much bugger all you can do.

You cannot expect no-one to ever write/publish a bad word about oneself. It's a simple fact of the internet.

I just read the website. Like I said before, if you ignore it, it will drop off the front page of google (which it has now done) and no-one will ever read it. It's obvious that it's just a bored, angry guy and no-ones going to pay him any attention.

Thanks for all your replies. To find out his name and address through a solicitor who deals with Internet, would cost few hundred pounds even before i took him to court, which unfortunately i do not have. As many of you know, i, amongst other things manufacture Fuel Cat. I have been selling these since 1988 and regard myself as honest and pride myself on customer relations etc. About 10 years ago the ASA wanted proof and stated that the RAC had testd Fuel Cat and found it didn't work. In my office i have a letter from the RAC stating that they never tested products including Fuel Cat. I have same web site etc and not heard from the ASA etc since. They didn't even apologise. My friend who owns a company selling computer perifirals etc, about two years ago for a period of about i month couldn't process credit cards as he was changing banks etc. I helped him by doing this for him. He since that time processes his own cards. There was as this other site says, no CON, his customers were told about this.
Also he insinuates that i have had many complaints about blown up engines, which i can assure you, i have had non. Up until a while ago, i used to show at car shows every weekend, which i think, if i had blown someone's engine up, they would have told me or given me a black eye. As mentioned, you will always get people who complain about various products, mainly in some cases, quite outrageous claims such as can save you up to 30-40% and more in Fuel. One of these being the hydrogen kits you can buy. Both i and another forum member tried them without any success, never mind 25-30% saving!
I used to send a letter to customers where i said that if i could gaurantee every car would save 25% fuel by using Fuel Cat, i would be living next to Bill Gates.
Only yesterday i received results of a test run by a manufacturer of cars, trucks and generators etc where a test was carried out for only 22 hours and one generator should 7% saving and the other 8.4% saving. These are not my figures, but from the company itself. So i don't think their telling me lies. Other tests, all show a benefit by using the catalyst, if only to clean carbon from the engine and lower emissions. IT WILL NOT TURN A MORRIS MINOR into a FERRARI.
Better stop now, or i will end up writing a book here.
                      Philip

You're paying way too much attention to anything he says. Let it go. His opinion is his opinion, the same as yours is yours. The world is full of nobs and the internet is bound to attract it's fair share. I wouldn't even give it a second thought personally. Anyone who takes one single persons opinion as the gospel is a prat whom you can do without dealing with anyhow. But, conversely, unless you're wiling to press the matter further, neither can you prevent him from saying whatever he wishes, (within bounds). That's his prerogative and right, as it is yours. At your age Phil, you really should be more versed at brushing things off.

Plus, the same advice you were given last time still applies. Solicitors may cost, but reporting the site to Google, (and every other search engine once you start), costs nothing. Did you actually do that last time?

As for products taking a bashing..

Last year at the Beaulieu autojumble me an my dad were talking to some guy running a small stall selling drill bits.. could drill anything at any angle! rock solid drill bits... the only set you'll ever need etc!

Anyway... my dad was tempted! I wasn't i aint got jack all use for drill bits!

Anyway, we walk away with my Dad saying "i'll get a set later" then he thinks of another question so we turn around and go up to the bloke just as we get there another bloke turns up, throws a set on the desk an says "f**king shit.. used them all once an there all blunt!"

                          Brilliant timing!

Anyway, went down my uncles the next weekend an was telling him... My uncle only got a set off the bloke at a steam fair!! gutted...

                            Matt

Your quite right that at my age i shouldn't be so bothered. Have emailed all and sundry about this page, which by the way, until last weekend had his web site address at the top, so people could see that when they looked on his site, what he is like. Last weekend, he changed web address at the top of the page, so you can't tell he rants and raves about other things.
Will probably take your advice and not google Fuel Cat anymore and upset myself.
                            Thanks Philip
