coil spacer materials?

Heres one for the people with beards.
about to knock up some coil spacers for landcruiser springs. first choice would be ally (as most people use, and so would i, as i tend to over-engineer the crap out of everything!)
OR, just a thought, polypropylene? it doesnt corrode for a start. works with lift blocks! or are my fears that the end of a coil spring pushing on a thin(ish) machined piece of polyprop well founded?

ideas please. cheers.

p.s anybody got dimensions for spacers? know its on here somewhere, but cant see for looking. save time measuring up myself.
