got under the surf today to give it a bit of grease here n there and found that some one has put three (painted) pink marks on the drivers side t/bar and three light blue marks /stripes on the nearside t/bar s that normal

Sounds a bit like putting L and R on your wellies so you know which foot to put them on

ha yes but all three lines are spaced evenly wasn't sure if toyota marked them or has someone been fiddling

No marks on mine, reckon someone took em off and marked em to make sure they went back on same side

Why have you got nearside and off side towbars?

it looks like someone has adjusted the torsion bars and marked the with pink paint rings/bands/marks/stripes on the end furthest away from the engine with light blue on the n/side .would some one with a standard surf measure the distance from the wheel rim too the arch i think my ones about 14 ins that way i can tell if mine has been lifted on the front and would explain the paint marks
