  • Great news: I've got my stolen Surf back!

You'll all be pleased to know that my Surf was recovered late this afternoon! It had been abandoned when the fuel ran out about 30 miles from here, just off the A303 nr Tintinhull. Can you believe it - the keys were still in the ignition (thankfully - as I only had the one set!), the Sony radio/CD was still there and my sat nav was still on the front seat. Only thing missing is my Oakley sunglasses (bit of a bugger as these were probably worth more than the car)! It's been heavily offroaded, the towbar has been used for towing, plus there was a kit for syphoning fuel left on the back seat - so as the police suspected it looks like it has been used for a 'job'. The batteries were also flat, maybe from trying to start it with no fuel? But anyway, it's home, extremely muddy, hay sticking out from every edge and corner and covered inside and out in silver fingerprint dust - probably the most fun it's had for years!!!! It's driving OK and the only damage I can see is to both the passenger side chrome effect wheel arch trims, they've obviously caught in something like a hay bale and have been ripped off which makes it look a bit sad and shabby so if anyone has 2 of these trims for sale or knows where I could get some then please let me know. Thanks again for all the kind messages and great support whilst it was missing, it did help to be amongst those who understand the magic of the hilux

                            Glad you got it back.

You now need to consider keeping your keys somewhere less accessible at night, maybe upstairs? We have a couple of dogs that would savage any intruder and alert us if anyone walks up our driveway..

Oh and get a second set of keys cut.
